Got pulled over for the first time since getting my CC permit.. Didn't go well.

So like the title says, I recently got pulled over and it didn't go so well. Let me explain a few things before I tell you about the incident. First, I only received my CC permit a few months ago in the state of Utah. Second, for the last few months I have been working in Pittsburgh, PA but I go back to Utah at the end of August. So me getting pulled over was my own fault, I'll admit that. I accidentally started driving down a one way street because I didn't see the sign. Immediately after I realized I had made a mistake I pulled over and was going to flip around to go the other direction. It was too late, a cop saw me do it and pulled up behind me with his lights on. At this point I'm thinking its no big deal just explain what happened and he'll just tell you to turn around.. Well that not what happened. As soon as he got to my door he was very rude. He asked if I knew why he pulled me over and I said yes, it's because I'm going down a one way street. And I said I just didn't see the sign. And he starts getting upset and raising his voice saying stuff like "so I can see the sign, but you can't? Are people from Utah fucking blind or just stupid?" At this point I realized like "oh shit" this cop is kind of crazy. He wouldn't stop being rude and I was staying calm just answering his questions. Finally he asks for my license. I'm now only realizing that I haven't informed the cop that I have a loaded gun in my center console.. I didn't want to spook this guy so as I hand him my license I also hand him my CC permit and just keep my hands on the steering wheel. He sees my CC permit and immediately yells "do you have a gun in the car?" And I say "yes." He immediately tells me to get out of the car and to put my hands on the top of my car and don't move. He also calls for backup and then does a complete pat down. He's really pissed off at this point and is yelling at me about why I didn't tell him I had a gun? And he asked "didn't you see that guy on tv who got shot even though he had a CC permit?" "You're in a dangerous area, don't you know that? There are shootings here all the time" I'm pretty freaked out at this point just because this cop is getting so hostile with me. Back up shows up and he has me at the back of my car while the other officer searches my car, takes out my gun, and unloads it on the roof of my car. The aggressive officer then asked how long I've been in PA and how long I'm staying. I say until the end of August and he says that he could arrest me right there because I should have a PA permit if I'm going to be here that long. I think I'm screwed at this point but after a few more minutes of him grilling me he calls in my permit number and checks to see if my gun is stolen and when it all comes back clean he puts my gun back in my car and says you're free to go and blocks traffic so I can turn around..I know that's a lot to read, I'm sorry. I'm just still so confused. If I was actually doing something illegal by carrying a gun, why didn't he arrest me? And why did he give me my gun and ammunition back? And not give me a ticket or anything? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2a0eFIc
