I'm new to teaching our states pistol permit class. I just had someone ask me if their daught could get her permit if her mother (the guys ex-wife) had her committed to a mental institution 20 years ago when she was a minor after they butted heads.The atf reg for prhibited persons reads "who has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution"The way it reads it doesn't matter age or reality of it. If you have been committed at any point you are a prohibited person. I welcome any input or a suggestion of who I could contact to get an official answer.Thanks via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2ajUcOI
