Self Defense/Hiking/Camping .45 round

I recently picked up my first pistol, an XDs .45 and my dad gave me some random hollow points I've been lugging around in it, but tomorrow I'm going to head down to the local gun shop and grab a box of ammo just so I know what I'm carrying. My first inclination was to just pick up some Hornady Critical Defense's since thats what everyone seems to carry.. but now I'm thinking that may not be the best bullet against 4 legged creatures (not including bears.. im gonna carry bear spray) when im hiking/camping.. would the Hornady XTP's be a better choice? Which grain? Any other suggestions? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2abJF7h
