Just submitted a question to the Texas DPS regarding the licensing requirements to OC:http://ift.tt/2eVmodU situation is relatively unique, so, in order to make sure that I dot my i's and cross my t's in following the law, I wanted to get clarification. Because, ignorance of the law is no excuse right- we should do our due diligence to learn the law in order to follow it...isn't that what "they" always say?Well, that didn't go so well, as they completely brushed me off advising I contact my lawyer or "local law enforcement". WTF? Isn't that why I contacted YOU....don't you fit in the "local law enforcement" category? Please see pic for details.Background- I'm a Louisiana resident. I carry a valid Florida non-resident permit which allows, via reciprocity, me to carry concealed in Texas among other states. However, my resident state of Louisiana does not recognize this Florida non-resident license. Louisiana requires that its residents obtain an LA permit to be valid. I counter this by having individual Parish licenses- one for Caddo and one for Bossier, the only two parishes I frequent. FYI- Caddo permit is printed while you wait and takes about 30 minutes, Bossier, a week. State license? Months and costs more (although it's valid longer). Less hassle. Florida took significantly less time, simpler application, and covered me for Texas CCW since I travel there often.Anyways, all I wanted to know was what do I need to do additional to legally open carry in Texas? Is any valid CCW permit recognized by Texas also sufficient to OC in Texas, or is there some sort of extra licensing required? And before I get the canned "don't take legal advice from the Internet yadda yadda yadda", let's just nip that in the bud and pretend this whole situation is hypothetical in a fantasy world fiction universe so people don't get excited an on edge with the whole IANAL thing. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2epfcUJ
