Question about using deadly force in a hypothetical scenario

So I've been carrying for nearly a year. Not 100% religiously, but probably 75% of the time since I go to a college in a state where that's prohibited. Just last night I had a thought about a situation and what the correct response would be. I think I have a good understanding of when it's appropriate to use deadly force, but I'm not sure on this one. So here's the situation:You're going about your business and all of a sudden a situation arises where you're justified and it's smart to use deadly force. Maybe some guy from 15 yards away is running at you with a bat or a knife, the specifics don't really matter, but you're justified in pulling out your firearm. So that's what you do, you pull out your firearm and get on target. Now obviously if they run away or turn and leave you're no longer justified in using deadly force because they're no longer a threat to your life. But instead of running away let's say they drop their weapon but keep coming at you barehanded, or in a way that wouldn't be considered with deadly force but still coming at you as a threat. Then what? You're no longer justified in using deadly force but you have your weapon out and aimed at them. Legally you can't shoot them anymore. Re bolstering is probably a bad idea since now you need to defend yourself without the gun, and even if it were possible the possibility of an accidental discharge would be through the roof. You also obviously can't just discard the gun, because then they can get it, and a whole other bunch of reasons. So what do you do in that situation to keep yourself safe and a live, both physically and legally? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2elV308
