Post-DGU legal aftermath, Paul Lathrop

Some have asked for post-DGU AARs. This recently hit my podcast feed.Paul Lathrop (of the Polite Society Podcast) was involved in a defensive gun use in Februrary 2016. Last week (August 2016), the charges were dropped by the district attorney. In the most recent Polite Society podcast, Paul Lathrop summarizes his six-month ordeal and some lessons learned. One's self-defense plan must be multi-layered, and more than just "I have a GUN!" The aggressor made violent statements and gestures, and was advancing towards the defendant, inside a stopped vehicle (Ability, Opportunity, not yet immediate Jeopardy). The escalation of force was ended with verbal commands/command-voice. A gun was never presented. Lathrop's legal defense and expenses cost more than $25,000.http://ift.tt/2bQh76z entire episode is two-and-a-half hours long (also includes an interview with trainer Kathy Jackson). For the time limited, there are links to segments of the Paul Lathrop interview segments only.Additionally, to get the word out to the CCW/pro-2A audience, Paul Lathrop is also doing interviews with other podcasts and media venues. 1) Lathrop interview with Bob Mayne, Handgun World Podcast. 2) Lathrop interview with Paul Carlson of Safety Solutions Academy podcast. More interviews to publish soon; Gun Talk with Tom Gresham, Lock & Load Radio and Gun Freedom Radio are on the schedule.TLDR: 1) Be the first to call 9-1-1 (even if the gun didn't come out). 2) Be a member of a CCW/CHL Legal Defense plan (or have $25K in your checking account). via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2bHlVYy
