Guns & Movies: Death Wish

Finally saw Death Wish (2018). Hollywood usually gets guns really, really wrong, but this one didn't do too bad. It has moments that would be useful for potential CCWers to learn from.mild spoilers belowFirst and foremost, training is required. A gun is not a magic wand. Having a gun doesn't make you safe. Buying a gun doesn't make you an expert. We see a character firing his newly procured firearm badly. He has to spend time practicing just so he can hit a large target somewhere. He has to practice a lot more to hit well. And he still screws up.Second, getting involved in other people's problems can get you hurt or killed. Everyone has to make their own choices, but, again, a gun is not a magic wand, and you are not a superhero. Get involved in other people's problems at your own risk.Third, cellphones are everywhere. Anything you do can end up on YouTube, especially if you'd rather it didn't. Be mindful. It also has a couple of good moments reminding the general public: When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. It's a bit over the top, some stuff is Hollywood stupid, and the language and violence are definitely R material, but I can think of a few people I'd like to make watch this movie. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2MGbgOJ
