Carrying at Ikea in MKE - Invalid "No guns" sign

Hello all in WII thought I'd drop some interesting info that isn't being shared in CCW courses in WI, for whatever reason. In WI, our signs have force of law. If a business puts up a VALID sign, it's a class B forfeiture to go onto the property without prior written consent. However, what is getting lost on a lot of websites and CCW courses is that we are being taught that in WI, ANY sign that says "no guns" or similar, is enough to qualify for a trespass charge. At the new Ikea in Milwaukee, WI, they have a sign on the door that states "This is a weapons-free area", and have the typical "no berettas" icon. However, for those of you willing to put up a fight, according to the WI statutes regarding carrying a firearm a sign that forbids the carrying of firearms on the property has to be at LEAST 5x7" and posting at every entrance where someone can reasonably see it.At the new Ikea, they have a sign on the door no more than 3" tall. Normally, I wouldn't fight it, if they told me to leave, I would. However, it's a big store, lots of people, brand new, in a high-ish crime area. I'm not going to go NOT armed. So, that's a little bit of info for you. Needs to be 5x7" at LEAST, and the Ikea in MKE isn't following those guidelines. Carry at your own discretion, but I thought you'd like to know. Here is the WI statute.https://ift.tt/2z3YKqn via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Ni6Xug
