Texas Law Question

Looking to get my LTC soon, but would likely acquire my handgun before I do that. So I have a couple of clarifying questions:As far as I know, you can own a handgun in Texas without a LTC, but you cannot have it "on your person". I assume "on your person" would be carrying around, or holstered, etc. From what I know, you can have it in its case/bag, transporting it directly to your vehicle to take to a gun range or whatever. What is the law regarding having the gun, not at a range, but also not "on my person"? i.e. On a nightstand, in my bag next to me at work, etc. Basically, at what point is a LTC required to be in possession of my gun? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Muv4of
