Today I was driving down a really dangerous part of the town I live in and realized if my car broke down, I would be a woman stranded and defenseless in a dangerous neighborhood. So I'm familiar with firearms and firearm safety, although I have never personally owned a gun. However, I feel as though it may make me feel safer to have one and I should exercise my right to defend myself. As for carrying, I've already taken and passed a CCW class, I just need to apply for the permit. One issue I'm worried about is storing it in my car. Weapons are not allowed in my workplace. However, a lot of the times I pass through dangerous areas are driving to/from work. This means I would have to store my weapon in my car. I've seen how that can be unsafe as car break ins happen frequently, and I don't want to contribute to arming a criminal. However, what else could I do? Since I can't bring it in with me, there's no where else I could try to secure it besides my car. Are there any possible solutions I'm not thinking of to storing it safely in my car? Also, what firearm/caliber would you recommend. I remember wanting a .22, but my ex boyfriend kept saying that that wouldn't be enough to be a defensive weapon. However, our CCW instructor said your accuracy with the weapon is far more important than the caliber, especially since you lose skill in high stress situations. The recoil on even a 9mm was hard for me to handle. My ex also said that .22s ma have issues feeding, but I can deal with that by getting a revolver. What do you all think? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2DSglR1
