MYTH: "You cant draw on a drawn gun. You will get shot."

There is a common myth in the CCW community that goes something like this: "If someone has a gun in their hand and pointing at you, you cannot draw your gun and fire at him in time. You will die if you try."Fact is, YOU CAN draw and fire on someone who already has their gun drawn if you do it correctly. Most of you have probably heard of something called "The OODA Loop." If not I'll spare you the long scientific explanation and just tell you that the OODA loop is the process we all go through when making any decision. If you get distracted or disrupted in the middle of the OODA loop your brain becomes temporarily confused. This confused mental state will often only last for a second but during that time you are deaf, dumb, and effectively blind because your mind is spaced out trying to comprehend the new information. In force on force training using both airsoft and simunition we have found that by disrupting an enemy's OODA we can indeed draw on them even when they already have a weapon pointed on us. Grab a partner and two airsoft guns (along with protective mask) or some SIRT pistols and try the following:Your partner will stand any distance he likes away from you with his gun drawn and aimed at you.You put up your hands and say "What color is your dog?"This is such a crazy and off the wall question that his brain is momentarily confused and his OODA is reset. The second the last word leaves your mouth you will do two things at the same time; 1) You will take a big side step to the left or right (this movement again adds new information that he must process which again resets his OODA loop thus slowing his reaction time) and 2) Drawing your gun and firing. The big caveat here is that you must be trained enough in drawing your gun from concealment that you can do this in a reasonable time frame.Watch and be amazed at how well this works. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2n9U4WG
