How does concealed carry make you safer?

This isn't a political argument, but a personal question: how does concealed carrying make me safer? I'm moving to a high crime neighborhood and planning on getting a gun for home defense but don't know if getting a ccw is worth the time/money/effort.I figure in a home invasion type situation you're woken up by the alarm and have enough time to get your gun and clear the house or shelter in place behind cover. But out on the street I feel like any situation where you would need to use a gun you're basically already fucked. In most robbery situations if they've already got a weapon trained on you it seems like the safest course of action is just to comply and give them your stuff at that point. Seems like a hell of a coin flip to try to draw when somebody's got a weapon on you. If you're assaulted in the street and they can already overpower you it seems pretty unrealistic to draw and shoot while they're beating your ass. And in both scenarios, now your gun is their gun. And in an active shooter, forget about it. When SWAT comes in clearing the building, what's going to make them not just shoot you on sight?Again, this is a personal question and not political. I'm very pro-2A and you all should be allowed to do what you want. I'm just curious to hear how getting a CCW will make me safer. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2wCSWSG
