Long-term review: LaserLyte Training Cartridge

I just wanted to share my thoughts on a product which I have been using since early 2015, the LaserLyte Laser Trainer Cartridge.Since I travel a lot for my work, I wanted something which would aid in training reaction and accuracy in a safe manner, and my lovely wife got this for me as a gift. The system she purchased for me via Amazon consisted of two "reactive" targets and a Trainer Cartridge. I probably used the targets for about 6 months, and they weren't very durable, but the cartridge I have used ever since, and have bought three, since I lost one, and then got two for gifts. Below are my thoughts:Product Description From the manufacturer's site: The caliber-specific Laser Trainer Cartridge that offers a revolutionary way to train almost anywhere. The Laser Trainer Cartridge is the most realistic training option in LaserLyte's popular line of Laser Trainers with the choice to practice tap, rack, bang or malfunction drills. Designed for a variety of calibers, the new Laser Trainer Cartridge fits inside the pistol chamber and features a firing-pin activated switch that indicates bullet impact with a bright red laser dot. For the cost of one or two visits to a local range, shooting enthusiasts can enjoy a lifetime of free training with the Laser Trainer Cartridge at the location that works best for them.Usage:You have to purchase the cartridge that matches your handgun's caliber. I believe they make a .40, .45, and .380, in addition to the 9 mm that I have been using. What you do is safely clear your weapon, then place the training cartridge into the chamber, and then, whenever you fire, a red laser will momentarily turn on (.1 seconds) and "fire" from your bore to show where a bullet would impact.Benefits:Safety - you cannot accidently or negligently load a live cartridge when the LaserLyte is in your gun.Learn accuracy - improve your aim by knowing where your point of impact will be when aiming or practicing unsighted fire (point shooting)Compatibility with other laser training systems. My understanding is that most of the lasers on the market will work with each others' reactive targets and software. I have not tested this, but have read it on many boards. Buyer beware.Improve trigger press - if you pull a shot, or move the gun in any way during the break of your trigger, you will actually see the laser move off your point of aim. It will quickly improve your aim and teach you to hold the gun very still during a shot.Rating:4/5 stars.I love having and using this device and take it with me on every trip when I can. It's small, easily brought with checked luggage, and can be used anywhere safely. It definitely led to better results at the range, where I could see that my grip and trigger press were improved. My only hesitation in rating it higher is durability. These trainers are specified to last around 3000 shots, and I doubt they will. I have had to have two of the switches (the back end that the striker impacts) replaced well under 2000 shots. What said, their customer service is amazing - each time they failed, I just called and they replaced them at no charge, even though both were out of warranty.Summary: I consider the LaserLyte Laser Trainer Cartridge an indispensable tool in pistol and CCW training. I believe that use of this cartridge will yield better results than wet/live practice alone, and is the best way to dry practice since you get instantaneous feedback. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2wQZU64
