Stealthgear review

Nothing super-extenive here, but tl;dr = not worth the hype.I have a third-hand Aliengear with a couple of shells, it get a lot of use and had already seen use before I got it. I picked up a PPQ45 and was hemming and hawing over an IWB for it, looked hard at the Ventcore but that price held me back. r/gundeals pointed me to a 20% off sale (?) And I jumped on it. Think it set me back about $80. (Thanks Walther rebate!)I will say that this pulls the PPQ in nice and tight, and hides it about as well as I would have expected for such a large piece. I'll post pics if I can figure out how to from my phone. The J-clips are excellent. I see no reasonable way to fub the draw with these, unlike the standard poly clips on my AG. Any future holsters I buy that offer this option I will definitely take it.Retention is great, but that seems to be the case with these hybrid Kydex iwb holsters. The padded lining feels very nice, but here's where the complaints come in. The webbing around the holster has to end somewhere, and that's done by backstitching and then melting the end of the wedding. This happens to be at an unfortunate spot that rubs raw when I'm wearing it with nothing underneath. My understanding is the reason this lining is so well-loved and sought-after is because you don't need clothing in between you and it. This negates that benefit. In that same vein, the forward clip has no backing between it and myself, and that sharp metal Edge also digs and rubs sitting and standing. I would love to see the backing redesigned to include covering that area. So, as I see it I need to wear undies and an undershirt in between me and it, and the much cheaper Alien Gear feels no worse and costs much less. I do like the J clips, and I plan on trying to buff down the melted abrasive area on the webbing, which will hopefully help a lot. It's unclear how frequently I will be carrying the PPQ, but the 10 days or so that I have with it, it hides very well. That's about it, hopefully my thoughts help some of you who might also be on the fence regarding these two holsters makers. (And Black Arch, with which I have no experience ) via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2DoWrvG
