Alcohol related misdemeanor in my past

First of all I want to say thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this and help me. I'm sorry it's long, but any help would mean a lot as this is very important to me.Last year I got a misdemeanor charge for something similar to an open container. I was drinking in the passenger seat of a parked car on a dirt road in the mountains, and plead guilty to the class C misdemeanor of "drinking in or about a vehicle" because at the time the $210 fine looked better than $5000 in lawyer fees. Stupid, one time, ridiculous charge.I've never had trouble with the law before or after besides a speeding ticket for 10 over. Now, I have to check Yes to "Have you ever been convicted of an offense involving the use of alcohol?" on my permit application. I called BCI and they confirmed that is grounds for denial. What should I do? I believe I am not some wild outlaw who is unfit to carry a firearm.I must attach documentation explaining the question I answer Yes to. And when it (inevitably) gets denied, I'll have the opportunity to appeal it. What is my best chance of success? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2DgDak9
