Moving from TX to CO. What's the protocol for minimizing time between licenses?

As the title says, we are looking at a move from Texas to Colorado, pending some job stuff. From what I understand, when I renounce my Texan citizenship (the horror) and become a Colorado resident, I can start the app process. This makes for a lapse in licensure that will last from when I become a citizen to when I get my new CO CCW permit approved.
