I had to pull for the first (and hopefully the last) time last night

Some back story here:I am a 21 year old college student that lives in a small college town in Tennessee. I have carried for the past 10 months, Glock 19 gen3 appendix carry. So last night I pick my girlfriend up from work and we met some friends at Mcdonalds to grab a quick bite. It is 11:00 pm at this time and the place is empty except for myself my girlfriend and three of my friends. As we are finishing our meal three men come into the restaurant, being loud but nothing over the top. My friends had a movie to catch so they left about 15 minutes before my girlfriend and I. As the two of us are leaving I decide to fill up my sweet tea. I notice that these three men are staring the two of us down so I make eye contact with one of them. Nothing aggressive, I'm a Teaching assistant at my university so it is not uncommon to be recognized by a student I've had in the past. Even though these guys didn't appear to be students you never know. I didn't recognize them so I go about about filling me tea and as I leave I make eye contact with the one from before once again. This is where things got a bit crazyThe guy asks me what's up? I reply hey and from then I couldn't fully understand him because he was Hispanic and had a heavy accent but the general consensus I got from his tone / posture and volume was that he wanted to fight me. Being someone not too interested in a fist fight in a McDonald's I decide to get my girlfriend and I out of there. As we make it to my car I here the McDonald's door fling open, I think he kicked it. Now I am on considerable edge. I get my girlfriend safely in the locked car and as I turn this individual and his two friends are coming towards me quickly. At this point I have decided I am going to defend myself. I am in an empty parking lot late at night, these people are strangers, it's 3 on one and I am concerned for the safety of myself and my girlfriend. As the group comes at me at a jogging pace I pull my firearm, I don't directly point it at them but they are now well aware that I am not interested in a fight or being jumped my three strangers. The ringleader of this merry band takes a couple more steps and stops. He hasn't stopped shouting but he has halted in coming any closer. At this time I see that his pupils are the size of pins, a sure sign that he's on something.I told him that I was not interested in confrontation and that I wanted to be left alone. With my weapon in my right hand and an outstretched left hand in a sort of "stop/halt" position I asked them to back away and leave. They stated they were going to call the police. I told them to go ahead, I am a licensed carry permit holder and the state of TN has a stand your ground law to protect people from situations like this. At this time they decide to leave me and my girlfriend be.As we leave they followed us in their vehicle for some time until we lost them on a main road. Here is my question for you all, What do you think of my reaction to this? Was it justified to pull my firearm? Was I legally covered? Was I just being a pull happy douche? Be honest with me here as I take my carrying a firearm very seriously and want to learn from this experience.tl:dr 3 men possibly high chase my girlfriend and I out of a McDonald's wanting to assault us and I pulled my firearm in defense. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2mc8hBO
