The moment many of us train for happened to me last night. I work at a gas station, and I was robbed. I noticed something strange, but nothing that set me into the position to draw.So the guy comes in, black hoodie and pants, and buys something before leaving. I had put my jacket on to go take a smoke break before he came back in. So I go back behind the counter, still wearing my winter jacket, while he grabs a drink. He comes to the register and tells me to give him all the money, and my car keys. He had his hand in his pocket, gesturing it at me like there was a gun in there.I carry IWB at about 3 o'clock. No way I could draw quick enough, my coat was too heavy and in the way. When I carry knowing I'll be wearing a winter coat, I carry appendix or pocket carry, so that's what I'm used to.I hit the panic button, and gave him everything he wanted. He took off in my car while I dialed 911. They got him eventually, after crashing my car while bailing out, but still goes to show, ALWAYS be ready, practice your draw from unfavorable positions. More importantly, know when you're legally in a good spot. I would've made a bad, or at least questionable, shoot. Turns out he was unarmed. He never directly threatened me. Would've been a lot harder to fight in court knowing those things. It's just money, the car is insured, and he never actually tried to hurt me.Be careful guys. I thought something was up before it went down, but I didn't change anything to give me an advantage. Thankfully I can walk away unharmed and learn from it.Stay safe. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2m0q3GK
