Is it possible to mail a firearm?

Hey folks. I've posted here and in /r/guns a few times before about picking a gun and I finally did it. My parents are getting me a Glock 19 for Christmas as well as a LTC class and are helping to pay for my license. It's more than they wanted to spend, though, and they are unwilling to buy a TSA approved case on top of everything else, which I think is reasonable. Unfortunately, I don't work full time and since I'm between school semesters I'm exceptionally short on cash, I can't buy it for myself at the moment either.Since I'll head back to school before a paycheck will come in, I won't be able to take my shiny new hand cannon with me and also feed myself. I have flight benefits so I could get back home and buy a case here and bring it back by plane, but if possible I'd like to avoid a flight of about 2 hours each way if I can, even if it is free. So, my question is whether there's any other way to get the firearm from Point A to Point B without flying back and forth myself. It would be moving from Texas to Colorado and by the time I'll move it I will (presumably) be a Texas LTC holder, if that helps.Edit: It seems the Gander Mountain guy might have been a little misinformed, and that the case it comes in might be adequate. I'll give TSA and the airline rep a call. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2he2BUA
