I had a terrifying experience last night

First off, I don't carry a firearm. I'm only 20 and you must be 21 before buying a handgun in my state. But I do carry a knife, a bright flashlight, and a can of bear mace in my car and on my person when possible. Last night, a buddy of mine decided to take a drive up the nearby mountain to go look at the stars, about an hours drive from my home. We get to the top, hang out for a few hours, and leave around 11:30 PM. As we're making the decent down the mountain a few MPH over the speed limit, a car comes roaring up on my rear end, getting extremely close, flashing his lights and trying to get around. Annoyed, I pull off in a safe area and let them pass and continue on my way. But about 5 minutes later, as we're getting close to the bottom of the mountain, we see the same car pulled off road, and suddenly continue following us when we pass by them. They get super close to my car again, flash their lights and try to pass me. Now near the bottom of the mountain, there's a lot less pullouts for slower vehicle, so I just found the biggest spot in the bike lane and pulled over to let this person pass again and they speed by honking their horn at me. Now by this time, we're basically at the bottom of the mountain and the speed limit increases to 55. So I get up to around 60 and about a half mile down the road, I see the same car starting to slow down in front of me. I decided to keep my speed and try to get their license plate if possible (In hindsight, this was a big mistake on my part) I begin to get close to them again, about 200 yards away, when they suddenly make a right turn at a pullout and try to turn around, and stick the nose of their car out to hit me. I'm able to go into the other lane of this 2 lane road, drop my car down to 4th gear and take off to get away from this crazy person. I eventually get a few miles down the road and lose them successfully. But it got me wondering, what would happen if they successfully hit my car, how would I defend myself if they decide to get out and attack me, I could be easily incapacitated and all I had to defend myself was a knife and some mace. Besides not trying to get close to them to get their plates, what else could I do in this situation to avoid any confrontation in the first place, if any.TL;DR crazy person tried to hit me with their car when I couldn't find a safe spot to let them pass. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2hhRte6
