Carrying... but then you get in an accident?

So say you’re carrying, and you get into an accident, and require treatment and transport by ambulance to a hospital. What do you do with your carry firearm? In Illinois, I’m responsible for my firearm and any ammunition inside it. I don’t want to leave it in my car but I don’t want to break any laws either.
