Can we talk Night Sights? I mean again?

What I bought and why I bought itI recently got some night sights on my Glock 19 (G4). Ameriglo I-Dots to be precise. I did my homework and decided on these because they are good for quick acquisition and also are accurate for longer range shooting. I also wanted to minimize the attention at the rear sight and maximize the front sight in the daytime while having a reliable point of reference in the night. My research originally had me looking at Sevigny sights from Warren Tactical, but a guy at my local range said that the serrating on the back sight (reduced glare) was hard on his shirts as well as his spare tire belly while the Ameriglos had a smooth surface. Trijicon HD's also have a rough texture, and those were what I was looking at a couple months ago.My early experiencesI took my newly acquired sights into a dark room (my bathroom) and pointed my CLEARED gun in a safe direction, looking down it with both eyes open. There's a tritium lamp in the front and one in the back. And I saw four dots. Just like getting used to shooting in the daytime and training yourself to focus on just the one correct front sight, it looks like I'll need some training in the dark to focus on just the two correct night sights. I wasn't expecting that. My only concern (too strong a word, but oh well) is nighttime shooting with four dots glowing at me.I then headed to the range and used the sights in the lighted conditions. Absolutely superb! I am able to rack the slide on my belt now and the sight picture is awesome. My eyes are drawn to that front sight much better. In lighted conditions, these sights are a decided upgrade to the stock Glock sights. Unfortunately, the indoor range has safety rules about guys shooting in dark rooms and the other guys in the room would likely be upset if I turned the lights off while they were shooting, so live fire in the dark will have to wait for another time.A few questionsThose with night sights, do you shoot with both eyes open in the dark? Did it take long to get used to which set of lights to focus on?Should I have gotten sights without a tritium lamp in the rear sight? Or is it too early to say? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nbFnFy
