So I had an odd circumstance today and I'm pretty sure I handled it the best way I could. We had visitation with our nephew today, and it was at a public park in another city. We went fishing and let the kids play on the playground equipment was a great day until the last 45 minutes or so.I was walking fishing gear to the car when I hear arcing electricity and snap my head to the left to see a large black man tucking something into his waistband of his basketball shorts. Immediately alarm bells go off as this guy is in the middle of a playground screwing around with a weapon. Walk onward keeping an eye on said guy and put the gear in the car.Start walking toward my family when the park "ranger" pulls up heading for a gazebo so I wave him down. Up pulls a guy in a shirt with a badge on it and "Ranger" under it and i realize he is 17 to 21 at most and not a true LEO. Tell him what I saw and who it was without making obvious gestures. He thanks me and drives off to the concession stand. As I walk back i see another guy watching this guy even harder then I am wearing an Army ball cap and Oakleys. Make the comment to him that "I'm all for self defense but that guys an idiot." He agrees with me and I walk back to my family and tell them what I saw and that its time to go.I get two of the kids with me and keep them away from the playground equipment where this guy is and suddenly he does it again and is chasing what i can only assume is is friend of his with it arcing saying "Nah you ain't gonna get my kid you ain't gonna get my kid." Both of them laughing their heads off.Causes me to take a wider detour around the area. This also freaks my MIL right out but she does the same thing. I stop about 100 feet from my car because I had parked and wouldn't have line of sight on him anymore about 10 to 15 feet behind the guy who is also watching him.I watch him as my wife passes by me and hand my wife my keys to the car and mention to her I have a revolver in the trunk if she needs it. She goes and gets our kids and nephew to the cars as I wait for my MIL and her mother to go by me.At about this time the park "Ranger" drives back up and starts watching the guy from under the gazebo and I notice one of the guys there is OCing and totally oblivious to the circumstances. The guy in the hat has been watching this guy and keeps glancing over at me to see where I'm at.I'm assuming he was CCing as well though I didn't see a bulge on his hip. Thinking back on it the only thing I could have done differently is call the police myself. Otherwise it was the first situation where I was truly glad to have a firearm on me.What do you all think I should have done differently?TLDR: Guy screwing around with a stun gun on public park I didn't draw but kept watch on him. Trusted the staff at the park to call the Police? The right or wrong call? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2oAuaet
