Recent Scenario Taken from News

I was watching the local news this morning and they were reporting a man was viciously attacked by multiple individuals over the weekend.According to the news, a man, and his female companion were walking home from the grocery store when they were suddenly attacked from behind by approximately fifteen older teenagers. While the short clip that appeared on air only showed about 5+ individuals actually assaulting the male and the others cheering them on, it was hard to tell exactly how many were taking part in the assault. The video also showed them only using fists and feet but that doesn't mean none of them were armed with deadly weapons. The result of the assault left the guy with a missing tooth, busted eye, multiple head injuries, among others but he was able to walk away.So my question is, what would you do if you saw this in person? Obviously call the police, but do you try to stop by drawing or not? Do you do anything besides wait? Problem is that there are 15 violent individuals which may or may not scatter if you draw; and may be carrying deadly force themselves.A second question is what do you do if you were the one receiving the beating. By the time this guy knew he was in danger he was already on the ground with 5+ guys punching and kicking. Do you draw even though you're down and surrounded, try to create distance if possible, or something else?Just wondering, the story bothered me, especially with how quick and violent the attack was and it left me wondering exactly how I would handle it.
