Over the last seven months I've carried the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 daily. Here are my thoughts.

Why the Cloak Tuck?TL;DR at the bottomHey folks! As the title states I've been preparing to review the Cloak Tuck 3.0 for the last seven months. A lot of us on here are new to concealed carry and I wanted to see if this holster would be a good option for newbies. Two things drew me to review the Cloak Tuck: cost and versatility. Many respectable holsters can get expensive quickly. I understand that a new carrier may be hesitant to shell out $100 on a holster that they might end up hating. At face value the Cloak Tuck seems to fix this issue. It is relatively inexpensive and has the ability to be adjusted several ways.My experience with the holsterMy job enabled me to test this holster in a variety of climates and areas. When I first received the holster in June I was working in Quantico, VA. During the seven months I drove from Virginia to California. Finally a few weeks later we moved to Oklahoma.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQKbDQBW9jUWhat I likedI quickly realized that the holster is incredibly comfortable. The neoprene did a surprisingly good job at keeping my backside dry during the summer. I expected the holster to feel uncomfortable in the car, but I barely noticed it during our ~4,000 miles on the road. Before this test I had primarily carried at the one o'clock position. The Cloak Tuck was easily to adjust. This helped me to find a comfortable position to carry in; a tool that would prove valuable to a new carrier. Finally, you really cannot beat the price. What I dislikedThere were a few issues that I ran into with the Cloak Tuck. First off the ability to make major adjustments comes with a price. The overall surface area of the holster is quite large in order to support the three clip holes. Secondly, the standard clips on the Cloak Tuck need some serious improvement. After several hours of carrying I often find that my holster has shifted from the 4:30 position to the small of my back. Not only is this frustrating, but dangerous. The clips also rotate on their own accord no matter how hard the screws are tightened; even loctite did not help.Overall impressionThe Cloak Tuck ranks high on my list for concealed carry options. A lot of folks hold strong opinions for both the Cloak Tuck and Alien Gear. I have found that their customer service is outstanding and their gear is pretty decent. The Cloak Tuck is a great option for new carriers that aren't sure of their preferences. It allows a variety of carry options for a multitude of weapons while remaining affordable. For a more experienced carrier the Cloak Tuck might not be the best option. It is a master of versatility, but this often not what an experienced carrier searches for. If you know what specific function you want your holster to fulfill you may find better options elsewhere. If you are looking for an affordable versatile holster the Cloak Tuck may be the way to go.TL;DR: Good holster to learn what you like, especially if you want to save money via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2hydnYz
