Interstate RV travel with a firearm

I am a somewhat new CCW permit holder and have a question about traveling with a firearm. I’ll be taking an RV trip across country this summer, and wonder what people do with their firearms. Based on my permit, I’ll be legally able to carry concealed in many of the states I’ll be visiting, but not all. I’d like to keep the handgun locked up in my RV trailer for most of the trip and don’t really need or want to conceal carry. I’d just like to have it available when camping at night, in the trailer.
