Experience flying with connecting flights (different airlines)

I have a flight next week that has a connecting flight with a 2 hour layover. The first flight is with Alaska. Then the 2nd flight is with American. (Returning home is American then Alaska)The tickets were purchased through Alaska. This would be my first non-direct flight I’d be going through with my firearm. On Alaska, it has a note that, “If you are connecting to another carrier with a domestic destination you may need to claim your firearm(s) and ammunition at the final Alaska Airlines destination and then check it directly with the connecting carrier.”Do you have any experience of whether Alaska will let you know ahead of time if you’ll have to do this? Or does it typically go straight to the final destination? Looking for your guys’ experience on this matter. Thanks!I plan on giving them a call later, but first hand experience is always reassuring. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Yf4uoJ
