The other day I was outside setting up carpenter bee traps outside my home. Home is surrounded my fencing with barbed wire, and I have a very large Great Pyrenees who is pretty alert of anything that isn't supposed to be here (people, foxes, raccoons, etc). I had my gate open as I'd gotten a delivery that day, and while I have a pretty long driveway, most people don't come strolling down someone's driveway who lives "back in the woods", so to speak. I'm always armed on my own property, not only for criminals, but we have predators who take a liking to my chickens and ducks I keep.So while I have my back turned working on these bee traps, my dog starts to go crazy. I turn around and there is a hispanic man from AT&T/Uverse/Direct TV standing in my driveway. Since I'd been working/stretching, my shirt didn't exactly cover my IWB pistol, and when I turned he got a good look at it. He starts to stammer over his words and make no sense, plus I can't half way hear whatever he is saying due to my dog inside the house barking. I end up standing pretty defensively with my arm down by my side ready, as I know criminals will often disguise themselves as door to door salesmen to get an in or scope out a home, and I have no idea who this person is.He manages to stammer out if I have their service, which I say yes to. He looks down on his clipboard, and tells me "oh yeah, says here you have our fastest speed we offer. You happy with your tv and everything?". Yes I reply. "Well, ok, we're just here to check on our customers, see if there's anything we can offer them but you seem to be doing ok. Guess I'll be going." He is pretty scared and just wants to get out of here. "Ok" I say, and he proceeds to hurry down my driveway.Distance when he stopped cold was about 10 yards. He didn't try to approach any closer to that, and I felt I gave off a pretty strong "get the hell out of here" vibe with my short, curt answers and posture. I was really surprised someone would come walking down my driveway, which is about 900' long down in the woods, where you can't be seen from the road. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2JDQJtA
