Have a CT issued CCW permit and am heading down to VA & NC for a few weeks. Can I carry in those states?

Just looking for clarification and/or second opinions. I've reviewed both the VA & NC state websites pertaining to reciprocity with CT and it reads like I can bring my CCW with me and carry as I would here in CT.VA says - As of July 1, 2016, pursuant to Virginia Code Section 18.2-308.014, the holder of a valid concealed handgun or concealed weapon permit or license issued by another state may carry a concealed handgun in VirginiaNC says - Effective December 1, 2011, North Carolina automatically recognizes concealed carry permits issued in any other state. It seems like as long as I have a valid ID and CCW permit on me while I'm carrying, I'm OK. Am I reading those correctly? (hate to find out the hard way that I'm wrong!). As far as the transportation of the weapon, I'm thinking I would remove the magazine, and place a cable lock through the barrel while having the whole thing locked up in a lock box in the trunk of my car, while keeping the magazine in a different bag/box.Am I over thinking this?? thanks! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2EDyuAP
