When to draw in an active shooter situation?

The recent tragedy in Las Vegas and subsequent videos of the panic that ensued got me thinking. When would you draw? I personally would definitely have an immediate instinct to draw as soon as I heard gunshots, but after watching the videos I realized that would probably not be the most prudent course of action as it would probably add to the chaos as well as making you a target for police and or brave citizens. In this case a ccw would obviously be inadequate to engage a shooter on the 32nd floor with a long gun and wouldn't do any good anyway, but if you were on the ground I would imagine it would not be immediately clear where the shots were coming from. This would only apply to a public area in which ccw was not restricted. The concert almost surely had security checkpoints and a no firearms policy, so the question may not specifically be applicable to this situation, but in a situation with an active shooter and similar crowd, when, if ever, would you draw? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2kjuAIs
