Realizing 1911s have ruined me...CCW options?

Hello, Recently bought a G43 with plans on carrying it based on lots of feedback. After now taking it to the range a few times I am in full realization that almost all my other pistols are 1911 variants or are DA/SA with external safeties and decockers....at least the ones I shoot in high volume.This little G43 does NOT work with a thumbs forward grip and the placement of the slide release is having me constantly mistake it for an external safety and I find myself riding my thumb on it like a 1911...causing both slide lockbacks when I dont want them and the slide to not lock back when I want it to.I'm realizing quickly that I need to consciously change my grip every time I pick up the gun and this does NOT bode well for an actual self defense situation under stress...I'd clearly grab the gun the way I'm most used to and that would be like a 1911.I have no issues dumping this gun and getting another but now I'm wondering options....What are some lists of reliable, proven CCW guns that have 1911-like controls and would allow me to use my thumbs-forward grip that is muscle-memoried into my grip approach?Thinking Ill look at the P938, Dan Wesson CCO/ECO, Springfield EMP....shying away from shields and M&Ps with external safeties because I already own an M&P and I'm just not as big a fan as most people.Cor concealability I'm hoping to keep this in the G43 size range...certainly no bigger than a G19 if at all possible. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2m8MKYN
