A friend of mine got in touch with me today with some bad news. While he was buying a phone from OfferUp, he was robbed at gunpoint point. He said that he knew something wasn't right from the get go as the meet was being set up, but decided to go ahead with the meet. (specific red flags are unknown to me talk this time). He went alone, and met the other party in a public place, but when he got there the other party told him they needed to get in the car. Once in the car the gun came out.He gave all his money and phone to the party, and then ran to the park near by and called police. Police have been provided the other party's Facebook pages, various pictures, and my friend was also able to find out where this person's mom works. Police are having him view a line up this week.I'm glad he is safe, no doubt. I've also let him know that I the future he shouldn't go alone, to meet in a public place (police station), and to learn to follow his gut in those scenarios. However, he's indicated to me that he would like to get a gun.I'm not really sure how to approach that. Of course, being a carrier myself I support this, but is there anything else that I should try and cover with him to make sure he's making the best choice? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2lZ3ylU
