Does having a CCW permit and a concealed weapon give a police officer the right to search your car in California?

I heard from my CCW instructor to expect to be asked to step from your car and have your car searched if we are pulled over. In Calif, we are required to inform of CCW to official interactions with the police. Why would this also extend them the right to search my car (if my CCW instructor is correct.) They certainly have probable cause that there is a weapon in my car, but not probable cause that there is any illegal weapon.
