Advice for travelling through unfriendly territory - NY, CT, and MA

I am travelling from Pennsylvania to Vermont soon and because of a stop that I have to make in CT, I have to drive through New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Obviously I can't CC in any of these states, but I'd like to have my CCW with me while in Vermont.I'm pretty certain that I can travel through these states with the gun unloaded and locked in a hard case in the trunk of the car.
