Re: Home Training

I’m not an expert, just a blue belt in BJJ and I box at an amateur level. Nothing can replace learning solid fundamentals and proper technique.

With that being said, I’ve read some other redditor’s advice on focusing on physical fitness rather than learning technique at home. That’s wise advice. A lot of people get in the best shape of their lives by just joining a gym and learning.

FWIW the majority of people who do train in boxing, BJJ, etc etc aren’t all in top fighting shape so don’t be dissuaded by thinking you have to get in shape before you step into a gym. A tool that can help you into good aerobic striking shape is the PunchLab App. You can attach it to a heavy bag and it will count your strikes and double as a boxing timer. It has educational features too and more that I haven’t dove into yet, but it’s by far the best tool I’ve discovered and highly recommend.
