Carrying chambered/unchambered - Looking for more input

I personally carry my Glock 17 with nothing in the chamber, but a loaded mag. Currently only because 1) I don't understand enough about the glock safe-action system, which makes me not trust it. 2) I always am under the impression that mechanical things will fail sooner or later. What are your impressions? Do you carry with one in the chamber, why or why not? I want to get comfortable carrying with one in the chamber, and the only people I know who do carry that way are people who have additional safeties on their handguns.Edit: Thanks for all the responses. I understand the fact that during a situation in which I would need to use this firearm, I would not have time or even the thought to rack the slide. That's not my concern here, my concern was simply the safety of the situation. Thanks again for the input via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2AGv6UL
