So I just started a new job that requires some travel. I've flown with my CCW before so I'm familiar with the protocol and regulations etc. But I have a question regarding the communication at the check-in counter. Usually I just go up there and verbally tell them "I'm declaring an unloaded firearm" blah blah. And I don't really care what other people around me think because I know none of them. But now, since I'll be traveling for work, there's a chance a co-worker may be behind me/next to me etc in line, and I'd rather them not know I carry for obvious reasons. So my question is, is it acceptable to maybe just hand the TSA agent a typed note on maybe an index card with large font saying, "I"M DECLARING AN UNLOADED FIREARM. PLEASE PROCEED WITH THE CHECK-IN".... or something along those lines?? I know I'll have to show my case but if the co-worker sees me I can always just tell them its an extra insulin pump or something like that. Checking in won't be an issue because we would arrive at the airport separately at separate times. But returning we would most likely be together. Was just curious if anyone else has been in that situation and how you went about it. Would the index-sized card with the message typed on it be acceptable? Any other ideas?EDIT: I'll definitely be calling TSA just to make sure. But I'd like to hear any advice on here as well. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2zRLAwN
