First Interaction With Law Enforcement. Went Well
Background info: I live in Saint Cloud MN, minutes away from the mall stabbing that occurred a couple weeks ago. Today I was at the Chic-Fil-A grand opening. The restaurant shares a parking lot with Crossroads Mall. As most grand openings, it was very busy. For some reason there was about 6 LEO's at the restaurant, I figured they were there for lunch, but it appeared they were there for a book drive or some sort of fund raiser.Typically I appendix carry, with a Galco King-Tuk. I had put on a lot of driving miles the past week, which caused some irritation on my stomach so today I wore a Fobus paddle holster and 4 o'clock and covered it up with a hoodie. My hoodie got caught up on the grip of my firearm while I was standing in line, no big deal MN is an open carry state. I cover it back up. As I'm leaving with my food I feel a tap on my shoulder and someone saying "Sir" thought it was going to be a Chic-Fil-A employee, turns out it was one of the LEO's.He asked if I had a license for the firearm on my right hip. Told him of course I do and asked if he would like to see it. He said he would, I told him that my wallet was in my front left pocket and I'm going to reach for it. He was very calm and said "I know I saw you pay for your food". Props for how observant he was.Gave him my Drivers license and CCL, he didn't run anything just looked at them and gave them back. He apologized for stopping me, but said another customer had gone up to him and pointed me out. He saw the grip hanging out and figured he would talk to me if it made everyone feel safer. He said he knew I was good since "criminals don't put their guns in holsters." Told me to enjoy my food and that was it.Overall I think it was a very positive encounter, I know some people might think otherwise, since I "didn't do anything" But given recent events, and how busy the restaurant was I think he was just making sure people felt safe. Won't fault him for that. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2cHdi3w

Just completed my threat response training!
On my workplace you are obviously not allowed to carry, I just went through a few slides and i am certified to get killed whilst remaining calm.Message was: do not fear, be mindful. And: wait for officers to arrive and make sure you don't come off as a threat to them.Of course we need to play this game along, after all it's just your life!Yeah that was sarcasm... via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dBzjBE

Michigander traveling to Illinois
I have an upcoming trip to Chicago and know that Illinois has no reciprocity with my Michigan CCW. However I read that absent a non resident license or Illinois permit, I can carry on my person only while in my vehicle so long as the gun remains locked in the car when I exit the vehicle. Can anyone verify this? My primary concern is while I will be in my car and out of downtown proper on my way in and out of the city. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dBxW63
Best type of holster for business clothes?
Hey guys, sorry to ask two questions in two days, but I'm wondering about the best way to keep a handgun concealed while wearing business clothes - fitted trousers, tucked-in shirt, sports jacket or suit coat. I've been thinking of going with a shoulder rig under a jacket, but I've heard bad things about shoulder rigs on here. Can you keep an IWB from being seen when your jacket is unbuttoned? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dBiKWJ

Can you draw your weapon if accosted by one man with his group of friends behind him? Read Story
So this experience was one of the main reasons I decided to become a CCW permit holder. I'll try to keep it as short as possible. When I was 19 me and my friend where walking home from the arcade. We had to cross a park to get to my house. As we were crossing, we saw a group of 5 guys coming towards us. They kept coming our direction but not doing anything threatening just yet. Suddenly one of them stops and gets in my face. This guy looks a bit older than me in his 20s and is about 5'10 and I was only 5'5. He says "you just crossed my space!" and gets up in my face. I said "dude chill I didn't mean any disrespect" as I was trying to de-escalate the situation. He then gets up closer to me and just slaps me REALLY hard ,and at that point I get mad and yell "what the fuck dude!" and he said "what are gonna do about it?" and slaps me again.I knew the next one was likely gonna be a punch. So I get some distance and manage to hit him right in his snot factory. Next thing I know, HIS FRIEND comes out of nowhere and gets a good solid hit on me and knocks me to the ground. I immediately covered my head and just kept kicking the air to negate their advance as my friend is also getting beaten. I just kept spinning around trying to keep my head away as they were kicking me on the ground. After awhile a man comes out of his house and says "I'm calling the police!" and these guys scram after that. I get up and I got blood all over my shirt. That man possible saved my life. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the first time they've done this, as they knew how to attack in a group and knew how to divert my attention before I got the massive sucker punch. Let's say I run into the same situation now. What would be the best way to approach this scenario from both a survival and legal standpoint? Even if I were to successfully defend myself against the main aggressor, I'm sure his friends wouldn't just stand around the whole time . Running away may not be an option, as it would open the possibility of leaving my friend behind in a 5 on 1 affair. Am I allowed to draw my weapon if am approached by an entire group as opposed to a single individual? How would you guys approach this? This was in the state of Utah if that helps via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dg4OxL

Am I out of line here?
Shopping for my carry gun - picked up a Walther CCP, love it - I got muzzle swept about two dozen times by my salesperson, other salespeople, and other customers. Granted, the guns were empty and locked open, but I was always taught that you should never be forced to see the inside of a barrel under any circumstances. Driving from Atlanta, GA to Ashville, NC tomorrow - anything I need to know for NC CCW?
Hey guys, I'm driving from Atlanta, GA to Ashville, NC tomorrow. I had planned on carrying my G43 IWB as I always do in GA, and I know there is reciprocity with GA and NC (as well as most states in the southeast region), but is there anything important I need to know otherwise? I read that there is duty to inform in NC, so if we're pulled over for any reason, I'll be sure to inform the officer in one of the approved methods discussed here. As far as GA law goes, the laws with alcohol and firearms are pretty vague, and I've gathered from my research that its legal to have a beer or 2 at dinner in GA and not be breaking the law (could be wrong on that?) but I'm reading that having any alcohol in your system is illegal in NC so I won't be carrying if the gf and I decide to have a glass of wine with dinner. Do any of you leave your firearm in a hotel room if you're travelling? I feel that would be frowned upon on this subreddit... I'm also reading that signs have the force of law in NC? This is not the case in GA, so I'll be on the lookout for signs in NC. Anything else I should know? Thanks! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2cFrqFA

Is there any major corporation that does not have an anti gun/carry policy?
Everywhere Ive worked has had some policy stating that you cannot carry while working...and most even state that you can't even have your gun in your car in the parking lot..or carry while at work events off premises. Its so common that it's not even something I think about anymore...until I read my company policy today and saw just how stringent and encompassing it is.So it got me to thinking is there any company that does not have an anti gun or carry policy. Its not even that id want to carry at work...Id like to have my gun in my car though. Also what got me thinking about it was at work we are doing a community service thing, basically manning a soup kitchen for a day. This is not in the best part of town. It would be something like that I'd like to carry at but becasue its a work related event I could not.I know there are people out there that would say do it anyway...well that not an option..I like my job and I'm not trying to get fired over something like that. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dcgHqi

Family concerned that I am carrying because I could make the wrong decision
Some of my loved ones have recently learned that I concealed carry (guess I do a decent job of that) and have expressed their concerns. The main concern that has been brought to me is this - something will happen and there is a chance that I will make an incorrect decision on when to shoot, which will result in me ending up in prison. They are adamant that they would never carry a gun for this very reason. My response to this is that if something happens I would rather have the option to react if it was 100% necessary, and that I'm willing to accept the risk that I would make the wrong decision.I for one am much more passive in traffic, with people in person, etc because of the fact that I am carrying. What would your response be to this? I am in no way considering changing my opinion or practices because of this, but curious what everyone else thinks. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dvLwYE
Two carry pistols?
Gents,I'm new to CCW and defensive pistol shooting; I come from a hunting and target shooting background. At present, all I've got is a 4-inch S&W 686 that I inherited from my grandfather. I'm looking to get set up with two dedicated carry pistols (not going to carry them simultaneously!), and I am wondering if this is a good idea or if I ought to stick with one. My thinking is that, when I'm out in the country (my family owns property that I spend quite a lot of time on or around), I'll carry a full-size pistol. I'm leaning towards the HK45 or the HK P30. I've shot both and liked them; the grip thickness is about right for me, and I can get all my fingers on it. For knocking around town or the occasional trip into the city, I'd like something smaller, lighter, and easier to conceal. I've heard good things about the M&P Shield, but haven't yet gotten to shoot one. If it matters, I'm 6'3" with a large build and largeish hands. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have on the matter. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dB666B

Ensure your carry ammo preforms well in compact/subcompact barrels
I keep seeing more people go out and buy Critical duty for their carry gun, because some store manager said its the best hollow point out there... Which may be true (unlikely) for full size guns, but not for compacts. Seriously check out this guys youtube page and compare what you carry with his recommendations. His top performing are the HST 124 and 124+p, but others preform well. Just picked up a five seven for winter carry, who carries one? Xpost r/firearms
I live in a pretty cold climate and having a full sized carry in the winter is my preference. I had been carrying a PX4 .40 in the winter and an XDS in the summer. Questions about out of state carry.
Long time lurker first time poster time! I live in Missouri and I'm attending a wedding in Minnesota this weekend. Can I Carry at Louder than Life (October 1st & 2nd @ Champions Park - Louisville, KY)
Purchased tickets to this event to go with another person, and after purchasing I checked their FAQ page to see what guests can and can't bring, and among other things they have "weapons of any kind". I would assume that because the location is on public property (it's a park), I would be allowed to carry anyways but after checking with others, they apparently do pat-downs and use metal detectors every year. My questions regarding this, should I choose to bring my concealed, are as follows:Is Louder than Life authorized to deny entry, even though as concealed carry permit holders we are exercising our constitutionally-protected rights? If they do choose to deny our entry at the front gate, what would be my best course of action? e: format via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dCUGBM

Another stupid holster question...
I'm generally not a fan of all the "help me find the right holster/gun /CCW setup" type questions but I have a specific thing I'm not sure what to look for. Wondered if you all might be able to provide some insight. My wife is small / medium frame generally wears shorts or pants without a belt. She is looking for an IWB kydex style holster for her P238 that has a clip that would hold the holster in place but NOT be attached to a belt. We tried the sticky holster and it's just not exactly gettin the job done. It slides down too much. If they made a sticky holster with a clip that prevented it from sliding down then that would be PERFECT. But they don't. Anyone know if such a thing exists? I would love to get her out of the habit of off body "purse" carrying. This is probably the only way. It needs to have good retention also. Thanks for any help or insight. Gundo Holsters DuceDuce Level 2

Question about crossing state lines
I am a new Ohio CCW license holder (about a month). I've tried finding reliable information, but, since this is the internet, it's hard not to find conflicting info. I'm going on a road trip soon and would like to carry with me between Ohio and North Carolina, with the possibility of a side trip to South Carolina. I found this map on the Ohio Attorney General's site. I think I'm in the clear, but I wanted to solicit other opinions and also ask about road trip carrying. Rest stops can be super sketchy and I'm small and female. Other than a good, safe holster and the basic 4 rules for gun safety is there anything else I should be aware of? Are there any particular laws in WV, VA, NC, or SC that I should be aware of, or can anyone direct me to where I can research that myself? Thanks in advance. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2cBfkCx
Review: Snake Eater Tactical IWB Magazine Pouch
IntroHi everyone, I wanted to share a writeup of my thoughts about the Snake Eater Tactical IWB Magazine Pouch.http://ift.tt/2d841PG seeing them linked in a post here a couple months ago I decided to check them out. I bought two of them in black (they're also available in Coyote Brown) for $15.00 each and $5.00 shipping. I placed the order on 9/12, the order was marked complete (shipped) on 9/22, and I received the package on 9/26. The package included the pouches, a business card, and a nice sticker of their logo (I love stickers).http://ift.tt/2dB3k3V flat the pouch measures a hair under 5" in length, 1.5" wide and weighs about a half an ounce. It is primarily constructed with a piece of heavy duty elastic folded over and stitched together on one side as well as the bottom with a rectangle of hypalon covering half of one side and a smaller hypalon strip sewn onto that creating a loop. Overall the materials and stitching seem to be of a good quality. The only area of concern is the top edge where the magazine is inserted. I can see a metal feed lip possibly tearing this up over time but we'll see.Functionhttp://i.imgur.com/y7B9tYr.jpgThe pouch holds both single and double stack magazines. In my case I tested the pouch with 9mm S&W M&P Shield magazines and 9mm S&W M&P Pro Magazines. The pouch can be attached to the belt easily with the belt already on. The soft elastic opening makes it somewhat difficult to insert a magazine. With some practice I was able to wiggle in either magazine one handed but it was still much more difficult to insert compared to a kydex or leather magazine holster since the elastic is very tight by design. The SE Tactical website says full size magazines use the full length of the pouch but in order to be able to get a good purchase for reloading I used only half the length of the pouch for both the single and double stack magazine.Even at an insertion only halfway into the pouch the retention was very strong and magazines would not shake out easily. Being elastic we'll see how this retention might change over time. The draw of the magazine out of the pouch is smooth and consistent and the pouch stays in place well when the hook and loop in secured. The pouch has a little bit of wiggle to the left and right which may slightly affect a consistent grip but I think it is beneficial overall because it allows the pouch and magazine to move better with the body.Reinserting a magazine after a tactical reload doesn't seem practical to me because of the difficulty of inserting a magazine one handed but could get easier with more practice.Comfort and ConcealmentThe weight of the magazine and pouch was well supported by my belt and carried at the 11 o'clock position. The bottom of the pouch just barely touched my leg when sitting so I could feel it there but it wasn't uncomfortable in any way especially since the soft materials just conformed to my body.I used the pouch next to a T.Rex Arms Raptor and a G-Code Incog holster. Carrying the pouch at the 11 o'clock position the pouch fit in the gap that was already created by the holster. The magazine was held tight against my body and top of the bottom of the magazine was level with the back of the gun and I noticed no printing from the magazine or pouch in any typical body position.http://ift.tt/2dB46Os NotesThere is a loop of the hypalon sewn onto the belt loop side of the pouch that you can put the belt loop through to make it more stable if you want to flip the pouch around and carry it on the outside of your belt or attach it to something else like webbing on a bag. I like this versatility but if I needed to carry a magazine OWB I would still prefer a kydex holster. They also advertise that this pouch can carry a RATS Tourniquet but I only have CAT tourniquets so I wasn't able to test out how that worked but I'd like to try that in the future.I carried this pouch on a Volund Gearworks G-Hook belt in the picture where it is attached at the thickest part of the belt. You can adjust the belt orientation for a lower profile carry though.ConclusionI think this is a great option for IWB magazine carry especially in the 10 - 2 o'clock positions. It has a well thought out but simple (in a good way) design and for something that is handmade in the USA it is a great value at $15. Comfort and concealability are my two greatest concerns when carrying an extra magazine and neither are an issue with this pouch. My only concerns are the durability and retention of the elastic but only time and more practice will tell how well it holds up.Feel free to ask my any questions about anything I might have missed. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2d83tt0

I live in Iowa and would all I need to do is take the online course and then take the certification down to the sheriffs office to get my licences to carry? or do I have to have some range time? Ive been shooting guns ever since I was old enough to shoulder a .22 LR and I know gun safety like its my job. Thanks for your help! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2dpxbxr
