Pepper spray - Should you issue a verbal warning?

I've been watching a lot of pepper spray videos online and I was curious as to what you guys think about issuing a verbal warning before spraying an attacker? To be clear, I think using a general verbal warning in prevention is good, but do you think warning an attacker that you specifically have pepper spray is a good course of action? My hesitation comes from the fact that if someone is alerted to pepper spray, they may be able to make a barrier with their hands like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LWvgh2Hm4o

Would you us a verbal warning like "I have pepper spray!" and show your pepper spray before using it?

OR

Would you issue a general warning like "Back off!" and then immediately draw and spray if the attacker doesn't back down?
