Hey all -- since there are lots of new(er) folks in here loading up on new CCW gear and making modifications, including me, figured I'd share this to help anyone wondering about different options for easier/quicker front sight acquisition. Here are three different options, in order of investment.https://ift.tt/2x6vLSC painting the front sight. After some trial and error with Walmart nail polish ($4), had much better results with the Birchwood Casey sight markers* ($14) here on a VP9. 2 coats of white basecoat then 3 coats of color.Middle: fiber optic sight. This is a Lakeline LLC ($20) on a TX22. Loads of variance in brands and gun models, but a single front sight is usually in the $20-$40 neighborhood. (Ballpark $50-70 for a full set with rear sight.)Right: tritium night-sight with photoluminescent surround. This one's an Ameriglo Pro-Glo ($60) on a Shield. Again, loads of variance here but most seem to be in the $50-75 range. (Ballpark $75-$125 for a full set with rear sight.)https://ift.tt/2zudSy0 you can see, they all pick up pretty well during the day. Fibers really pop during daylight, but many advocate for tritium on CCW because of the ability to use in low-light conditions. TruGlo (not sure if anyone else??) makes combo fiber/tritium sets for the best of both worlds. Most common colors are orange and green/yellow. There's plenty of debate on color I'll avoid, and just suggest if you're new to this to experiment with the $5 nailpolish route to see what you prefer before dropping $125 on Trijicons. There are loads of threads in this sub that go into detail on brands and quality, particularly on tritium night sights.A note on installation fees: Most shops you buy from will install the sights for free. If you buy online, gunsmith fees in the $25-40 range to install (around here anyway -- don't quote me on that).Anyway sorry for the lengthy post, hope this helps a couple people!!\For those of you that prefer a blacked-out rear sight, the Birchwood Casey* matte black sight marker works like a hot damn -- it's on 2/3 pictured here. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2KuJUfu
