plaid button up shirt = game changer

I've been into ccw for about a year so I don’t have a lot of personal experience.  But I have done a lot of research to improve my ccw experience. I’ve found that the vast majority of information out there starts and ends with "need a good gun belt" and "need a good holster” and the rest is generically “body specific.”Through a lot of trial and error to be totally stealthy, I learned that wearing a shirt with a print that camouflages the weapon is a concealment game changer for me and I don’t know why people don’t constantly preach it.  Seriously, I’d rate it more important than belt and holster. One of the things I had considered was downsizing my gun but my glock 19 was already a size compromise for concealment.  I am not willing to carry a gun to potentially save my life that I would not tolerate/enjoy shooting nearly a thousand rounds over a common two day self defense pistol class. The gun is for fighting, so it has to be something I’ll train with and tolerate to an extent.I used to wear mostly t-shirts and the eureka moment was one day wearing a Marvel shit with a print that went below my waist (totally not common) and observing that it made the gun totally disappear in aiwb. Didn't help for 4pm.  I looked in my “fancy” closet section that never got used and found a nice plaid button up shirt. Glock 19 aiwb? Invisible. Glock 19 iwb 4pm? Invisible. Same gun but different holsters: both invisible.  Try all four holsters with Glock 17: totally invisible. Get wild and carry both glocks: totally invisible but pushing the limits on my belt. Hell, what about OWB? Totally invisible. Fuck at that point it’s become a game of “how much can shit can I conceal.”  Turns out a lot. A ridiculous level of lot.I’m just talking about a normal short/long sleeved button up shirt work untucked with some sort of pattern on it -- not some super tactical ninja shit.  I like short sleeve plaid buttons ups the best. I can get away with a larger gun in a wider variety of holster, position, and belt combinations just by wearing a patterned shirt.  The key is the pattern because it breaks up the shape of the gun.I know this is specific to me but I think this could help a lot of other people that struggle with concealment.  I think the right shirt (cover garment) is far, far, far more forgiving (and it’s not even close) with gun size/belt/holster/position/body shape combinations than any holster or belt or position.  Before you buy that second or third holster or belt, try out one of those shirts in your “fancy” closet section you never wear. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2xBzTqr
