Long post, but I'm helping my friend write out his good cause letter. He is a ER Tech and we work in hospital in Riverside County, CA. So I was issued mine based on my previous line of work and some incidents that happened at my previous workplace that lead to police writing reports that aided me in having mine issued.So at this hospital a lot of the low income community comes here for their medical needs. We also serve the majority of the homeless, mental health population and less desirables individuals including current and former inmates. There's been incidents where patients have carried weapons on them from small pocket knives to a .22 caliber revolver. Patients both of mental health and non mental health have become violent with staff both verbally and physically. My friend lives in the immediate community where the hospital is located and often runs into patients.There's been occurrences, where former patients or family members recognized him and told him crap about “working at a place that doesn’t give a fuck about their patients”, he’s also ran into a few less desirable people that have watched him exiting the store and oversees him all the way up to the point when he gets into his car. This is including him putting away his groceries into the car. He hasn’t really made any police reports about this and besides nothing that they were doing was really a crime. If it was persistent or if those following him had actually interacted with him or gotten within what would be considered a breach of personal space; then evidently a police report would’ve been filed.But I understand his situation for wanting to carry. So I want to help him carry, because one never knows when a mental health patient might be off his meds and attempt to hurt him or his love ones.
