First Confrontation to New CCW Holder

So I just moved a little bit outside of the city I work, I used to live downtown, and I take the train in to work. I checked the crime in the area, and in the last 6 months there was a couple carjackings and one robbery with a weapon, but 10 blocks down the road is the most shootings in the entire area.I was walking on the sidewalk on my way to work (I live about 2 blocks from the train station) wearing my headphones, and all of a sudden I hear, "WATCH OUT!!", in which I turn around and a guy on a bike rides by me, and then rides off the sidewalk. He starts yelling at me saying F you, you A hole, etc. I ask why he isn't in the bike lane, literally right next to the sidewalk with a bike labeled on it, and he just continues to yell at me, gets off his bike, and starts walking towards me. My heart was racing, thinking he's about pull something on me, I started backing up and I calmly told him to chill out (reminded of reading on here about how important it is to deescalate the situation), and he eventually gets back on his bike and rides off, continually yelling profanity.I'm considering starting to carry to work, but after reading the policy, it says "Firearms are not allowed unless permitted by law". Not sure exactly what that means, but I'm worried about asking HR might raise some questions. I got my ccw about 3 months ago, and this was the first confrontation since getting it (I've only carried once or twice, trying to get comfortable with my gun before carrying it). It makes me run through scenarios of what I would do differently, or if I had my firearm and he started to charge me and throw punches, what I would do. Any advice is much appreciated! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2XAWSMP
