Short review of the newest addition to the family. Sure there are far better reviews out there and I suggest you check em out but like most of you, I'm damn bored right now.For those unfamiliar the MR918 is made by Shadow Systems and while based around the G19 it has many custom features, all made in house by Shadow Systems. It has been discontinued but still somewhat easily found if you look around. I preferred the ergos of the 918 over their new version, the 920. However the 920 has a near universal optics cut milled into the slide, if this is important to you then I would opt for the 920.FYI MR = Multi Role and 918/920 means 9mm made in 2018/20, respectively.I am FAR from a professional reviewer so I will keep it simple and based off my years as a Range Safety Officer, entry level instructor and competitor. I own 11 different handguns currently and have run many more over the last couple decades. I am not going to go into to much depth as it would be outside my realm of limited gun-smith knowledge.Pros:Fits nicely into 3 different Glock 19 holsters I already own, including Vedders Light TuckAbsolutely awesome trigger out of the box, took about 200 rounds to break in and for the reset to really come into its own but once done it was on par/superior with my other custom triggers like HBIGrip texturing is near perfect for me, not so aggressive it becomes painful and overboard but enough to give you great contact including areas you don't normally see texturing on i.e. forward of the trigger where your thumb and indexed finger layExtended beaver tail not found on stock GlocksUndercut trigger guardSide portsTiN barrel (not for everyone, I was not a fan until I actually owned one, lol)Adjustable back-strapsAmeriglow front sight, blacked out rear (all metal sights)Comes with a mag-well that you can attach yourself if you chose, its rock solid and built specific to the pistolSolid groups at 7,10 and 15 yards, I will never out shoot this firearm (Ran 115 grain cheap brass ammo as well as Federal HST's and Hornady Crit. Duty. Had one double feed in the first mag then flawless after)Top slide serrations not only look great they actually add functionConceals exceedingly wellCons:The finish picks up fingerprints, scuffs, marks etc like nobodies business, all of which EASILY come off but I know some of us are picky about such. In terms of actual durability, I have seen no reason to think it not tough as nails. The grip is a TINY bit short, even for me and I have smaller hands, adding the mag-well helped alleviate most of this but my pinky is RIGHT there at the edge. I understand why this is the case however, for conceal-ability. Remember, this pistol is "multi role" and designed to do a bit of it all.Pricey, starting around 875.00. While being a great gun for a gun guy like myself, it may be a little expensive for a newer shooter. At the same time, it's not a TERRIBLE price for a custom gun with some neat bells and whistles.Side note, this is the pistol John Lovell's (Warrior Poet) pistol is based on, same model, same company. If your fan I suppose that's a pro, if you are not... well Ill just leave it alone, haha! One pic for now, if folks would like to see others or have any questions, please feel free!Be safe!Shadow Systems, MR918 via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/34TyyLi
