Witnessed my friend drunkenly shoot himself through the hand.

Last night I went to a fire at friend A's house. Most of our friend group, him and I included, carry regularly. When I went to crack open my second beer I secured my pistol in the car and returned to the fire. All is well, everyone is several drinks in when buddy B arrives with his new Springfield XDM 9mm and doesn't realize how drunk Friend A is, since he is visibly sober. Friend A carries an XDs and is very familiar with it and knows how to safely handle it and field strip it. He takes Buddy B's XDM to check it out, and proceeds to field strip it. With a round in the chamber and a magazine in. surrounded by people. Needless to say he put a Critical Defense 9mm round through his hand, thankfully going through the meaty part below his pinky. The point of this post is to remind everyone that alcohol and firearms don't mix. I have been guilty of carrying while intoxicated but this has been a scary wake up call for me and all of my friends.
