Last night my Father-in-law was working on a car in his garage at about 10pm. Since he lives in Chandler, AZ and it's already hot this time of year, he had the garage door open. I should also mention that they live in a fairly nice neighborhood (near Dobson and Ray, for those familiar).Suddenly, 2 black guys (sorry if it's politically incorrect to say their race, but what the hell, they were black) come into the garage pointing guns at him. They were "very aggressive" and asked where his wallet was. He said that it was in the car that was parked in the driveway, and they demanded the keys for it and told him to get down on the ground. While they were in the driveway distracted he jumped up, hit the button to shut the garage door, then ran into the house and locked the door. The guys took the car that was in the driveway and drove off, meanwhile my FIL told my mother-in-law that he had just been robbed, and they called the police. Within about 15 minutes the police were chasing the car, which the guys then wrecked (totaled) and ran away from in separate directions.I'm still a little unclear on the next part (I've only heard this story second-hand from my MIL so far). But apparently the police caught a guy in a crowd that was suspiciously trying to blend in. They brought my FIL by to see if he could identify him, but he couldn't. I don't know if anyone has been arrested. I guess the police have recovered a gun that was thrown out of the car (don't know what type), and then inside the car they found a beanie one of the guys was wearing as well as a backpack. I'm still waiting to talk to my FIL to hear more details. Apparently both him and my MIL are pretty shaken up by the whole thing. My MIL was unaware anything was going on, but when the guy picked up the keys to the car he was only about 15 feet away from her, with only an unlocked door between them. They've always been very supportive of me carrying, but neither of them ever have. I'm pretty sure the only guns they have are .22's, and they are locked up. Hopefully this changes that, we will see I guess. So anyway, that's the story. Feel free to Monday-morning quarterback the crap out of this thing, that's what's fun about these kind of stories IMO. One thing I thought was interesting was that my FIL could describe the guns perfectly to the police (he didn't know much about them since he's not a gun guy, but he could describe them) but couldn't describe the guys themselves nearly at all. I've read that people tend to fixate on guns visually when they are pointed at them (tunnel vision), so I wonder if that's what's going on (insert joke about how maybe it was because all black people look alike to white people). via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/1P4kRij
