Self-defense advice: Do I have to fight fair?

Let's say someone wants to attack me, and I've done everything right; large step back, say "No" multiple times, hands up in the universal "no" gesture, but the guy just won't stop *aggressively walking towards me. As far as I can tell, he doesn't have a weapon in his hand. He's a military-age athletic male, and I'm the opposite of all that but gender. There's no way I can outrun him for long, and then I'll have to try to fight him while sucking wind.Do I have to fight him empty-handed for legal reasons? I'd hate to win that fight and then lose the one in the courtroom; the whole point of self-defense is going home to your family. (Note: In my state, pepper spray, batons, and large knives are all legal to carry in addition to firearms. These could be options in your response.)Thanks for any thoughts, and I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. I couldn't find it with the search feature, so I decided to ask. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/1NwAOND
