Hey all,Looking to finally take the plunge, purchase my first firearm, get my CCW license, , become proficient, and start carrying (in that order).I went to the range the other day with a friend (learned that I'm a terrible shot and need LOTS of practice). I tried out the Sig P365, M&P Shield (1.0), Glock 19 (as a stand-in for the 43), and on a whim, the guy behind the counter handed me an XD-s to try.I have to say, of the bunch, I was by FAR more comfortable with the XD-s than anything else. The problem now is deciding on a model and cost (especially as my wife is not quite supportive of the endeavor just yet, hoping she'll come around - if not, I may have a gun to sell in the next few months....).The issue here is cost. From what I've seen, for new owners, it's best to go with the upgraded models (Shield 2.0/XD-s mod.2), though not necessarily worth the upgrade cost if you already own the original. It looks like I can get the Shield 2.0 for $320 at the moment, and the XD-s Mod.2 is running more like $450 - $500. That's a HUGE difference. Do you think I should just get the Shield 2.0 while it's on sale and learn to shoot with it, or if my first impression of the XD-s was really that good pony up the extra cash? Alternatively, it looks like there is a sale for $340 for the original XD-s.Basically, I'm a mess and am having trouble figuring out what to buy, especially as money is a huge factor and I'll likely be stuck with whatever I buy for several years (no chance I'll get spousal approval for another purchase any time soon). via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2pFRLwv
