[Scenario] flashback - possible justified DGU?

Hello all, wanted to get the community's thoughts on a situation I had a few years back, prior to me having my CWL. I've thought about this scenario since I've had my CWL and figured I'd post because I think it could be a learning opportunity for myself and others.[Disclaimer: I lived in GA at the time, and have my own feelings how I would have reacted had I been carrying at the time, but will keep them to myself for the sake of getting honest feedback.]Ex-wife and I walking in front of our apartment complex. Middle of the day, big complex, a few folks walking around near pool/clubhouse area about 100 feet away up a hill. We notice a sedan "tailgate" in the gate, which happened a lot at this complex, and make a snarky remark about it. Apparently the driver heard us and wasn't happy, so she stops the car, steps out, opens her back door, and grabs a bat, slowly walking our way (she got as close as about 5 yards. My ex-wife runs away to the nearest building, and I'm staying there trying to verbally de-escalate, making sure she gets to safety. After about 15 seconds (felt like forever) of "puffing her chest", she gets back in the car, and drives to wherever she was going in the complex. No physical confrontation (thankfully), but we were prepared to call the police but we couldn't find the car after the fact. Enough people in the area, but no way to know if they were seeing what was happening (all I know is that no one came to our aid).My question - had I been carrying, should I have drawn in this situation? I ask because I'd want to know what to do should I encounter a similar situation again. My opinion is that a person with a bat with clear intent represents "deadly force", but I could be wrong on that too. Knowing I could have ran muddies the waters some too, because she would not have been able to chase me down to land a blow, although she might have been able to chase my ex-wife down.TLDR version: angry assailant presents bat, in close range, in fairly open area, should I have drawn or should I have ran?TIA for your feedback and Merry Christmas! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2BYBHK2
