I've carried for a while now and I've never been 'called out' for it. As far as I know no one has noticed or, if they have, nothing was said.Normally I carry my XDs in a SG Onyx on my right hip but today I was using my Outbags leather OWB due to a healing cut on my hip. I draped on an oversized t-shirt and headed out.I was in the pharmacy area browsing and reading labels when a woman and her ~10 year-old daughter showed up. Mom began browsing while daughter wandered-fidgeted-looked-touched as a child is wont to do. In a brief flash of synchronicity, at the very moment I realized my t-shirt had caught on the grip of my piece, the little one spotted my rig. I expended tons of will-power not to make eye contact and just quietly adjusted the shirt. To her credit, the little girl reacted quietly. She sidled up to mom, got her attention, and whispered to her. Mom straightened back up and looked my way. I looked her way and took a breath to explain, "I am licensed, etc."Now, here's where first impressions come in. I am 54, white, heavy, and long-haired and dressed comfortably (read: Kinda sloppy.) This young mother was fit, decently, if eclectically dressed with short, bright pink hair and wearing what I call SJW glasses. When she had first approached I had, for good or bad, mentally and instantly labeled her as a liberal, anti-gun, activist type who would best be avoided. I don't care to know how she labeled me...Now the twist: As I drew my breath to speak she got there first by saying, "I hate it when that happens. Nice holster though. I like mine." as she gently patted her hip. I could then see the slight printing under her colorful top.I just smiled at her and the little one and said, "Me, too. Have a nice day." and walked away with a sense of relief for no confrontation and a little lesson on first impressions. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/1YbpUiS
